This is a hands-on workshop with a low-cost 1GHz single board computer for the development of new embedded applications using the collaboration around open-source software and hardware. Bring your own PC or use one of ours to pair up and enjoy developing with easy-to-use hardware, software, and sensors. This Linux computer can be used to build anything from home automation systems to robots. Tiny size and ease of connecting peripherals and wireless communications makes it perfect for IoT/IIoT applications. Participants will learn the basics of codingusing open-source Linux-based software using online IDE Cloud9 and sensors and outputs; from add on boards to circuits — try your hand at your own design. After prototyping your embedded system with this low-cost development board, it is easy to transform your prototype into your own custom embedded system.
Note: You will need to bring a laptop in order to participate in this this session. The speaker will have 10 laptops on loan for the session, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
