I'm a firm believer that the best way to learn anything is to have a fun hobby project that forces you to "peak under the hood" to really wrap your brain around how things work. The amazing thing to me is how, while working on these projects, I constantly discover things of which I was not previously aware. Also, I invariably run across topics -- like switch bounce and metastability -- that I thought I understood, but that turn out to be much more "interesting" than I ever expected.

In this free-wheeling presentation, Max "the Magnificent" Maxfield leaps from topic to topic with the agility of a young mountain goat, so members of the audience are advised to dress appropriately.
