After much hype, and in the aftermath of several tragic failures, carmakers and automotive suppliers have begun to take a more realistic approach to the development of autonomous vehicles. The road from advanced driver assistance to widespread deployment of self-driving cars will be much longer than some had predicted. To enable higher levels of automation, automotive-system designers must employ powerful machine-learning processors. In this presentation, Mike Demler, senior analyst at The Linley Group, will describe the processors and machine learning accelerators that are driving the development of more advanced automotive systems.
