Embedded systems engineers often face the challenge of designing, debugging and implementing a basic RF system. But how does one go about creating one from scratch? This presentation is based on a previous working design called the AAP3 which utilized the RF3 RF board on which the author explains through the presentation that initially the overall system testability has to be taken heavily into consideration to realize a working RF system. The overall complex integration of the RF signal-chain chips utilized is made straight-forward by having a compute platform that the designer can utilize to "tweak" the various chips to eventually get the RF board to a known working good condition. This is the focus of this presentation; it is to show that these various RF chips can be glued together and integrated with each other using a synthesized processor, UART and minimal interface logic, thereby efficiently implementing the design, debug, and bring-up of an RF system board.
